First make sure that you have the correct dies for the brand of
fasteners that you are using.
Removing and installing dies on the pres-n-snap is accomplished by
pulling the dies off of the tool, or pushing the dies onto the tool. It helps
to rotate/twist the dies during installing and the removal of dies. All dies
are held onto the tool by black "0" rings.
With the handle closed, adjust the end bolt until the dies come in
contact, then back-off 1/2 turn. Place the fasteners into their
corresponding dies.
Locate a piece of scrap fabric and fold to the same thickness as your
project. Place the fabric between the dies and press/squeeze the handle.
Fasteners should not rotate when set in fabric. Caution: overtightening
may cause distortion to the fasteners and can damage the dies.
In the event that the fastener rotates you may adjust the end bolt
clockwise on the pres-n-snap. Remove the m-2700 gray ring to prevent
cutting it. Then carefully press/squeeze the handle being certain that the fastener is in position.
Installing grommets
For installing grommets use the same process as for installing fasteners.
If you are using a standard or spur grommet you will need to cut/pierce a
hole through all layers of material at one time. Place the grommet
through the hole and the washer on it. While holding it in one hand use
The other hand to position the pres-n-snap and press/squeeze the handle. The grommet sits on the anvil portion of the die set and the washer sits on
the rolling portion. If you are not sure which is the anvil and rolling
portion, please go to our pres-n-snap dies page to view.
If you have self-piercing grommet dies do not waste time cutting/piercing
a hole in the fabric. The grommet and grommet die will cut and roll in one
action saving you time and money. When placing the grommet and washer
In the dies, it helps to place the washer first then the grommet.
Hammer Hand Tools
When using punch tools always wear safety glasses.
Always hammer into the end grain of a solid piece of wood, never into
the side of the wood for it would jam wood into the cutting punch and cause damage to your tool
